Jigsaw Murders - Book # 1

In this humorous mystery, Kathy has discovered that retired life is just a bit too dull for her taste. When she decides to involve herself in a series of baffling murders known as the Jigsaw Murders by local news reporters, the small town of Hopkins becomes ablaze with gossip. Kathy’s daughter, Alice, a substitute teacher at the local high school doesn’t respond well to her amateur sleuthing and is embarrassed by her antics and manipulations. In spite of the obstacles and her family’s discouragement, Kathy remains steadfast in her conviction that she will solve the case.

Kathy is not your typical grandmother. One might expect a sweet old lady to use her life experience, wisdom, and keen powers of observation to solve a crime. However, Kathy is more likely to spike a suspect's drink while questioning them and to create gossip to flush out the killer.

As Kathy ineptly bumbles through the small town of Vilisca, Washington searching for clues and staking out 'suspects' who she believes may be capable of murder, she stirs up gossip among the town’s quirky citizens and lands herself in awkward situations. Fortunately, Kathy thinks quick on her feet and if all else fails, she knows how to play the helpless old lady card with amazing skill. When the killer becomes nervous and retaliates, the pressure is on to solve the murder fast.

Soon, Kathy wishes for her old, boring life back as her amateur investigation becomes a race against time to protect her family which she has unwittingly put in danger.

Fortunately, Kathy thinks quick on her feet and if all else fails, she knows how to play the helpless old lady card with amazing skill.

As a newcomer to this small town, Kathy realizes she needs all the help she can get so she’s grateful for Sara’s assistance. Because Sara is a shift manager at Quik Burgers, her inside knowledge of the business and many of the locals who frequent this establishment, she provides her grandmother with information and leads that would otherwise remain unavailable.  Unfortunately, she finds herself in jeopardy as gossip runs rampant and the killer fears she’s come too close to the truth.

Safe Harbor Murder - Book #3

(Coming soon!)

Kathy Bomar's tips for every day living:

1. If you live in a dangerous neighborhood or end up amateur sleuthing like I do, I highly recommend getting a dog or a cat. I personally own a large, orange Maine Coon cat named Rover. He's done very well for me.

2. If you get pulled over for speeding, you can avoid a ticket by pretending to have a heart attack. It's worked for me every time. If the police officer insists on escorting you to the hospital, start flirting with him like crazy once you get there, it'll scare him right off.

3. If you get caught in a sticky situation; it's time to act old, feeble, confused, and helpless. I've gotten away with a lot by that easy and simple trick.
